WHAT IS THIS PROJECT?
​With a national pandemic, people need something to release their tension and frustrations, they need an escape/release. And that's our mission. We've been taking our anger, frustration, and insanity and writing an album. We need your help to make it our biggest yet.

HOW WILL THE FUNDS MAKE IT HAPPEN?
We will use our funds similarly to a record label. Recording/Mixing, Musicians, Marketing. I've spent the last few years studying Facebook marketing with mentors inside the music industry. In addition, I have a business degree from UWEC to help us use the money efficiently.

WHO ARE WE?
Nick Anderson and The Skinny Lovers released a series of EP’s that landed Number 1&8 spots on independent radio and were licensed to MTV, E!TV, NETFLIX and more. We were also part of Summerfest's Emerging Artist Series (alumni include X Ambassadors, WALK THE MOON, Maren Morris).

Our mission is to bring people together; help them connect with and express the underlying feelings, values, and dreams that we all share.  We create an escape, a release for people.  It’s been our mission since we started in 2015.

We do this through music.

The world is undergoing a collective experience through a pandemic.  We've been quarantined, frustrated, and we need something to release that tension and frustration we've bottled up.  

I believe we have created something that will do just that,  A NEW ALBUM.  
Just to make sure, we sent it to a few people and here's what we heard back.

Welcome to our Punkstarter.

We’ve been working hard to create something that will provide a release for everyone's pent up energy and frustration.  A NEW ALBUM. This isn't an album about quarantine or coronavirus.  This is an album inspired by those experiences. This new album will be unlike anything you’ve heard before because it's influenced by something that has never happened before.  But it gets better, we want to put you in the executive chair!  We want to invite you to be a FOUNDER of this new album AND the band.
This is exciting for a couple reasons:

• Throughout history as we've undergone these HUGE world changing moments there has been a breakthrough piece of art, or a new movement that takes place.
• This new art is unlike anything we've heard before because it came from a place we've never experienced.

Think the breakthrough album Dookie by Green Day, but light-hearted, and with the experiences of growing up in The Midwest.  
And you can be a direct FOUNDER of this new album.  Think of a huge breakthrough album, and then think "what if I could be a part of something that big?"  Pretty cool right?
The timing of the album of Dookie was quintessential because it described and felt the way that people did at that time.  That's exactly what we did.  We took growing up in the midwest, our life experiences, paired with being quarantined for two months and put it into a record.  
We think this album can be our biggest yet.  In order for it to be, we set a goal to raise $10,000 so we can do this release right!
Here's a list of some things we'll do with the money:

• Finish Recording/Mixing/Mastering
• Create a professional music video
• Get the word out, properly market/promote this album
• And honestly, most of our summer shows have already been cancelled.  That means all our revenue is disappearing so some of the money will go to us for our hard work on the album!  

If somehow we make it past our goal we will continue spreading the word of the album to the rest of the country. $100,000 is where we can spread the album to the entire east coast. And if we get to $500,000, we can spread this album nationally.

As you can see, 2020 has been our biggest year of growth by FAR.  We even just surpassed 100,000 streams.  

How We Provide an Escape
Music has the incredible power to put your mind at ease, help you understand yourself, and feel like you aren't alone.  Our fans have told us how our band/music means so much to them, how it's refreshing to hear someone talking about mental health, how our show was exactly what they needed.  When I was 17 I went through a deep depression and at my lowest point, I remember feeling so alone.  It was then I heard a song that made me take the action to go and get help.  The lyrics of the song hit me so hard, I remember thinking "oh my gosh, someone else feels exactly like I do."  This helped solidify the importance of music in my life.  

Back to the Goals
Let's take a second to head back to our first question.  I want to take you through our thought process.
The world is going through something collective.  This means that art that expresses it could relate to every person on the planet.  However, we don't think people want/need an album talking about the hardships of coronavirus.  They want something that will simply let them escape from those hardships, and release the anxiety and tension they caused.
We created an album to do just that, and that since there is this collective feeling among humans, it has the potential to be HUGE.

Q: Would a band that has a history of passionate fans, merchandise sales, and sold-out shows be able to make a HUGE impact?  What if in addition the entire world just underwent something collectively and this band had a way for people to release that tension? And what if they had a budget of $10,000 to make it all come together?

Music Industry of Today
Let's talk about the music industry of today.  People hardly buy CDs in stores and MTV doesn't play music videos anymore.  We used to be told what to listen to from radio DJs that were paid to play the same songs over and over.  With streaming services fans choose the music they want to listen to.  The game has changed.  Bands can put music out on their own and distribute it across the world.  However, to get the word out they need funding.  And instead of asking you to support a single album, we want to make you a FOUNDER FOR LIFE.
(In addition to this, by proving our fans support us enough to raise $10,000 to become a FOUNDER we hope to leverage this into bigger deals.  If a Record Label was to see how engaged our fans are, and want to work with us on a fair deal, that could make things go even further! )

Proof of Concept
Even though this idea might be new for the music industry, making fans the executives/founders has been proven before.  Let's take a look at my favorite example of community founders, The Green Bay Packers.
Did you know that The Green Bay Packers are actually owned by their fans?  The fans at several points in NFL History had opportunities to purchase common stock in the team.  In exchange for the purchase of common stock in the Green Bay Packers, fans received official certificates, access to exclusive merchandise, and were able to vote regarding the future of parts of the team.
Fast Forward and The Green Bay Packers are one of the most iconic sports teams ever. Now when the team originally offered stock, they didn't have as many fans or Super Bowl wins.  Can you imagine the Packer fans now who have that ORIGINAL Certificate of Stock hanging on their wall?  Talk about some MAJOR bragging rights.  And now because of those fans' support, the Packers bring so much joy to people!  
This is exactly what we want you to be a part of.

Risks and Challenges/OUR TEAM
I do expect there to be many risks and challenges once we fund this project, but I've developed a fantastic team over the last 12 years to help me overcome them. This team mentors me, inspires me, and helps me through any challenge I face.
This team includes but is not limited to:

Carl Hitchborn (Mentor) - Lifted Republic (social media marketer, author, disruptor). Responsible for breaking UK band The Hunna with over 80 million streams on Spotify and over 75,000 tickets sold.
Dave Anderson (Mentor) - Has run a successful Tech company for over twenty years.
Kyle Lehman (Business Partner) - Co-owns Ivy Media who has managed videos for premium clients such as Bon Iver, The Wrecks
Justin Andersen (Business Partner) - Owns Twilight Sentinel Productions and has worked with artists such as Bon Iver, The National, and many more.

In addition to this team I have a Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of Wisconsin Eau Claire where I named Entrepreneurial Studies as my major. I saw that there was a new music industry coming, and that the successful people in it would be businessmen and women. I've been preparing for this opportunity my whole life.
